題目:“One Text, Two Readers, Three Fates: Where the (Fore)sight of Jeremiah and Ezekiel Diverges”

Deuteronomy 30 follows at the heel of the “treaty texts” of Deut 27 and 28. Although the possibility of forgiveness upon a treaty breach is generally implicit in the treaty language through contrition and acts of repentance (provided the transgressor survives after the punishments to make amends), extant ancient Near East samples of suzerain treaties do not generally exhibit explicit statements that provide for the restoration of the transgressor after a treaty breach. This makes Deuteronomy 30 all the more peculiar.
