Ephesus As A Roman, Christian, And Jewish Metropolis In The First And Second Centuries C.E.(第一、二世紀的以弗所城) / George Kalantzis 卡蘭蒂斯

ABSTRACT

Since the dawn of Christianity, Ephesus has been associated with the Johanine tradition and has been claimed as the place of origin of the Fourth Gospel. This study tries to evaluate this ancient tradition by examining the status of Ephesus as a Roman, Jewish and Christian Metropolis in the first and second centuries C.E. In the process it becomes evident that the influence of Ephesus as an administrative, cultural and religious center of Asia was such that the traditional claim can be seen as more than a mere possibility.
